Gréta Resort is not a place where one comes just to sleep. It is a space where free time is combined with the landscape, movement, peace and a return to the natural rhythm of life. The resort area covers an area of approximately 8,000 m² and is not enclosed by any fences or fixed boundaries. This deliberate approach creates a feeling of openness and freedom and at the same time naturally connects the guests' stay with the surrounding nature of Liptov. Here, one does not feel that they are entering a closed complex, but rather a landscape in which they are a welcome guest.
Open area and natural movement in the landscape
The location of the resort itself allows for easy and spontaneous movement without the need for planning. There is direct access from the main road to the Kvačianka stream, which forms a natural line for daily walks. Along its embankment, it is possible to engage in Nordic walking, running or a leisurely walk. This area is also ideal for walking dogs or short morning or evening walks. The Kvačianka stream also flows past the resort itself and gradually flows into Liptovská Mara.
Liptovská Mara as a place for summer experiences
The proximity to Liptovská Mara is one of the biggest benefits of Gréta Resort. It is a body of water known for its calm, openness and a wide range of permitted sports activities. During the summer months, it offers ideal conditions for sport fishing, paddleboarding, rowing, surfing and recreational sailing.
The resort has its own equipment, which guests can rent directly on site. Paddleboards, water skis and a small motor boat are available. Thanks to this, guests have the opportunity to get to know Liptovská Mara from the water surface and enjoy views of the surrounding hills and mountains from an unconventional perspective. The calm nature of the dam makes these activities accessible even for families with children and less experienced athletes.
Meadow as a center for relaxation, games and picnics
The heart of the area is a large meadow of approximately 5,000 m², which is regularly maintained but left in its natural character. It serves as a place for relaxation, games, sports activities and peaceful lazing around. It is a space where children can play freely, adults can relax and groups of friends can spend time together without restrictions.
Picnics are a popular part of the stay. Guests can purchase a picnic basket at the reception at regular retail prices, without having to go to the store. The resort will arrange for its preparation and lend blankets and firewood. A picnic in the meadow becomes a simple yet authentic experience that encourages slowing down and returning to simple pleasures.
Sports and social activities directly on site
Gréta Resort offers a wide range of active activities right on site. There is a football field with goals and balls, a volleyball court with a net and a table tennis table with complete equipment. These activities are suitable for families, groups of friends and corporate groups and naturally complement a stay in nature.
The barn is a multi-purpose space that changes its function throughout the year according to the needs of the guests. In addition to social events, it also serves as a sports area, where floorball tournaments are regularly organized. Inside the barn, there is also a billiard table, which is available to guests for quiet evenings and social gatherings.
A gazebo with a fire pit creates a space for communal seating, barbecues and informal gatherings. Guests can choose between preparing their own meals or using the resort's catering services, including a traditional roast pig. The goal is to offer freedom of choice and a feeling of home comfort.
Open-air museum of flooded villages and its relationship to the history of the country
A unique element of the area is the Open-Air Museum of Flooded Villages, which was created as an educational and commemorative element. The symbolic river flowing through the area reminds of the villages that disappeared during the construction of Liptovská Mara. A brief history and explanation of its fate are given for each village.
The project was created in collaboration with the Váh River Basin and the Liptov Museum and explains not only the technical reasons for the dam's construction, but also its cultural and social impacts. This element gives the stay a deeper dimension and reminds us that the landscape we use today for relaxation has its own story.
Respect for nature and its inhabitants
The resort area is a natural habitat for wild animals. A beaver is commonly seen here, it is a handsome man who can even saw off ornamental trees and ornamental plants and take them to his dam, which he builds here. Foxes, roe deer, and even deer wander in here and there. The occurrence of a bear was recorded in the vicinity, but not directly in the area. Although a bear is a beast, it is a shy animal and always retains its shyness, so there have been no conflicts here. The approach to nature is based on respect and the awareness that man is only a visitor, even though we domesticate nature.
When moving in the forest, it is recommended to behave considerately, make yourself known with sounds and allow animals to retreat peacefully. This approach is part of the resort's philosophy and guides guests to sensitive and responsible behavior.
Hiking, cycling and winter activities nearby
The location of Gréta Resort creates ideal conditions for hiking and cycling. The Choč Mountains and the West Tatras are within walking distance, meaning that the first trails are just a few hundred meters from the resort. The Prosiecka or Kvačianská valleys are open year-round and offer unique experiences in every season.
Liptov is one of the best cycling regions in Slovakia with more than a thousand kilometers of marked cycling trails. The resort provides rental of classic and electric bicycles, including equipment for children. In the winter months, the surroundings are transformed into a space for cross-country skiing, winter hiking and ski-alp ascents in the Western Tatras from the Žiarska Valley.
